Thomas Banning was born in Dunstable, Bedfordshire in 1867 and baptised there in the Wesleyan Methodist Church. He grew up in Leighton Buzzard where his father was a confectioner. In 1898, he married Beatrice Mary Robinson (born in Bermondsey) and in 1901 they had one daughter aged 2. They were then living at 200 High Street (where Jessie Byrne and Kathleen Duncanson (q.v) were also resident.)
(Despite his relatively short career in Berkhamsted, it would be interesting to hear whether BLHMS or anyone holds photos by Banning.)
DEATH OF MR. T. BANNING – The death occurred on Thursday week, after a lengthened illness, of Mr T. Banning, photographer, of Berkhampstead. The deceased had built up a good connection during his residence in the town, and his death at an early age was lamented in a number of circles. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon in the cemetery, preceded by a service at the Congregational Church. The pastor, the Rev. A. Clegg, officiated.
