George Baster (1793-1873)

George Baster was born in Marlow, Bucks. George lost his mother Elizabeth at the age of 2.  He married Mary Spurling in 1818 in Ealing.

Their children, Thomas was born in 1820, Martha Mary in 1825 and Sarah in 1829, all in Bromley, Bedfont.

Martha Mary married John Groves (See plot 92), but her brother and sister, Thomas and Sarah, both died in their thirties and a buried in the Cemetery with their parents.

George operated as a saddler and harness maker in the High Street.

In 1861 George is living in Castle Street, a Saddler Master, with Julia Ashby, reputedly aged 58. In 1871, George is living as retired Harness Maker in Castle Street, with Julia Ashby, who is described by now as a Domestic Servant aged 75!

George died in 1873 and probate (under £20) was granted to his son-in-law John Groves.
