Following Charles death in 1864, Mary Ann Barnes re-married a Henry Tyler, again in Tring. In the 1871Census, they were living in Berkhamsted.  Henry, described as a publican, probably took over the license from Charles of the one Bell on the south side of the high Street – opposite the Crown.

The repair of this fine monument and nicely carved headstone involved the removal of damaging tree roots. Part of the side panel was missing and this was replaced as part of the conservation programme in 2018..
