Thursday 19th September 2019 at 5:00pm
Free

Discover the passions and publications of Berkhamsted’s past writers, long deceased, in the company of the renowned publisher, writer, polymath and historical personality William Longman.

Berkhamsted is a literary town now and in the past. Victorian publisher William Longman will share his life of letters and lead you on a tour of the graves of others who put pen to paper, but who are long consigned to (book) worms. Their writing encompassed almost every subject – from guns to roses, gambling to travelling, local history to far-flung wars, poetry to polemics, women’s role to mechanics.
