The Friends of St Peter’s share the nation’s sorrow at the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and offer our sincere condolences to His Majesty the King and the members of the Royal Family.
We all remember with great fondness that day in 2016, when Her Majesty attended a ceremony in St Peter’s Church to unveil the newly restored Coat of Arms of her ancestor, Queen Elizabeth I. That Coat of Arms now bears a board commemorating the Queen’s visit, a lasting reminder to all in Berkhamsted of that happy day.
Our historic Rectory Lane Cemetery, lovingly restored by the friends in recent years, was founded 180 years ago when Queen Victoria was on the throne. Today, we mark the accession of Victoria’s great-great-great grandson, His Majesty King Charles III, and wish him a long and happy reign.
