(150) Charles Barnes died 10th December 1864 aged 54 + Mary Ann Tyler, wife of Henry Tyler died 2nd December 1873 aged 44

Complete overhaul of tomb to remove root growth and re-fix.Clear site ground to reveal all stones, lift up existing stones and set aside Create new concrete base for stable ground Re-fix all stones back, bedded on lime mortar.Renew ferrous cramps if necessary. Shelter coating on front face of headstone to consolidate delamination at lower level.

(106) John Greedy died 19th June 1857 aged 39 John Greedy son of the above died 14th February 1872 aged 23

Lift out existing stones, pin together fragments and lime mortar repairs to all joints. Ensure that the sub-base is stable enough for the above ground stones. Clean the memorial with steam method to improve the surface and aesthetic appearance.

(92) Martha Mary Groves wife of John Groves of Dulwich 7th July 1825- 28th January 1890, Also John Groves died at Worthing 21st October 1908 aged 87. Esther Leach daughter of the above 6 June 1860 – 10th October 1954 aged 94

 Clear the site and remove the headstone, lifting out of position.  Supply new concrete base and reset the headstone plumb. Make good ground to site.

(169) Mrs Anne Hewson died 18th July 1852 aged 75

Lift out existing stones, pin together fragments and lime mortar repairs to all joints.  Ensure that the sub-base is stable enough for the above ground stones.  Take profile for missing plinth stone and re-carve from Portland limestone. Fit the stone to the area and ramp as necessary.  Clean the memorial with steam method ensuring that the limewash scheme is not interfered with.

(61) Stephen Holloway 8th January 1788 died 26th January 1866. Lucy Holloway 25th July 1795 – 10th February 1878 aged 82

This monument is at risk of losing the top details as it has already twisted and the capping stones moved.  To underpin the monument lift off the top shaft and existing stones and complete the lower section to plumb.  The top sections then to be re-fixed and lime mortar repairs to all joints.  Ensure that the sub-base is stable enough for the above ground stones.  Clean the memorial with a steam method to reveal the details in the carving and the epitaph on the front ledger.

(170) Mr John Hurst died 1st November 1857 aged 30 and daughter Sarah Ann died 26 October 1857 aged 5

Lift out existing stones, pin together fragments and lime mortar repairs to all joints. Major root growths to be removed. Ensure that the sub-base is stable enough for the above ground stones.  All ferrous fixings to be removed and replaced with stainless steel fixings.

 

(7)  William Key 31st October 1807 – 27th February 1890

Headstone one of two near RLC gates Stabilise headstones following damage caused by collapsed wall.

 

  (247) Ann, wife of Henry Lane, died 13th March 1856 aged 87. Henry Lane husband of above died 15th July 1865 aged 86 also of Hervey son of the above died 21st February 1879 69 years

Lift out existing stones, pin together fragments and lime mortar repairs to all joints.
Ensure that the sub-base is stable enough for the above ground stones. Clear ground around the memorial to remove unwanted vegetation and potential water absorption. Supply new profiled side to tomb in limestone to match. Cramp with stainless steel pins and bed on lime mortar.  Point joints as necessary.

(241) John Edward Lane died 1st August 1868 aged 31 years, also Arthur Lane died 9th September 1870 aged 18 years also of Mary Ann Lane 23rd May 1835 – 23rd May 1894

Clear ground around the memorial to remove unwanted vegetation and potential water absorption.  Remove ivy growths and roots from site.  Treat ferrous items with corrosion inhibitor and paint with enamel-based paints. Weld broken sections together. Lift right kerb and reset into original position, bedding on lime mortar and pinning with stainless steel pins if necessary.

(295) Hannah Leaper died 19th January 1843 aged 68 also of Thomas Leaper, husband of the above died 27th July 1850 aged 71. Miss Anne Leaper died 18th August 1856 aged 46

Remove the higher plant growth after strapping the stones together. Complete overhaul.  Clear the site ground to reveal all stones, lift the existing stones and set aside.  Create new concrete base for stable ground and re-fix.

(146) Mary Page died 23rd April 1865

Clear the surrounding ground to reveal the base stones and remove the moisture content against the stone. Clean the memorial with a stem method and record the epitaph for future legibility Lift out existing stones, pin together fragments and lime mortar repairs to all joints. Ensure that the sub-base is stable enough for the above ground stones Clear ground around the memorial to remove unwanted vegetation and potential water absorption. Supply new profiled side to tomb in limestone to match. Cramp with stainless steel pins and bed on lime mortar.  Point joints as necessary.

 (190) John Parkins died 20th September 1854 aged 67 and Mary his wife, died 16th August 1872 aged 83.

Clean the memorial with a steam method to remove all surface debris, mosses and algal growths. Re-fix the cornice stones on the base with locating pins and lime mortar bed. Re-fix the socle and the urn together with stainless steel pins and then fix to the cornice. Clear the ground to reveal the foundation stone.

(99) Rippon Clara Jane second daughter of Richard O. and Mary C Rippon died 23rd December 1895 aged 33. Emily Crofton Rippon who died in infancy. Richard Oliver Rippon died 7th October 1898 aged 67 Mary Charlotte Rippon the wife of above died 15th April 1910 aged 76

Lift out existing stones, pin together fragments and lime mortar repairs to all joints.  Ensure that the sub-base is stable enough for the above ground stones.  Clean the memorial with steam method to improve the surface, aesthetic appearance and improve legibility.

 (104/105) John Frederick Rolph died 2nd April 1862 aged 38. Margaret Kerr Rolph died 10th March 1869 aged 45. Sara Louisa their daughter died 21st December 1873 aged 16.

Jane Eliza, wife of John Frederick Rolph  12th December -1848- 24th December 1874 Frank Everard her son born 22nd October 1873 died 25th October 1873

 (261) General Sir Horace Lockwood Smith-Dorrien 26th May 1858 – 12th August 1930

Remove roots and higher plant growths. Re-fix kerb stones into correct positions and use lime mortar to re-new joints.  Include restoration of bronze sword of sacrifice.

(6) Thomas Tompkins died 13th August 1887 aged 52 years also Emily Tompkins widow of the above, died 1st May 1912 aged 78 years

 (82) Henry Unwin 14th October 1800 – 23rd September 1870. Ann Susanna his wife 11th September 1803 – 6th March 1886. Ann only child of above 13th July 1839  – 10th January 1873

Remove ivy growths on the stonework, re-point open joints where necessary after revealing the stone face.  Repaint the ferrous work and treat with Fertan corrosion converter to limit further decay.
